Marimekko Ralli Cosmetic Bag

Designed by Maija IsolaManufactured by Marimekko The Eelia make-up bag is made of an unbleached, robust cotton fabric with a Mini Unikot Ralli pattern printed in Helsinki. The toiletry bag is closed with a zipper and has a lining in recycled polyester on the inside and a stain-repellent finish on the outside. With its organic, sympathetic flowers and architectural stripes, the “Unikko Ralli” pattern is an inspiring mix of two of Maija Isola’s patterns from the 1960s. Marimekko’s famous poppy pattern Unikko was born in 1964 at a time when the design house’s collections mostly contained abstract prints. Designer Maija Isola wanted to create something interesting in this organic theme and designed a whole range of floral prints. Today, the iconic flower represents creativity. The dynamic striped pattern Ralli (rally) created by Maija Isola in 1969, is inspired by the streamlined stripes seen on traditional race cars. Sophisticated, vertical color blocks form a well-balanced design.
